Have you ever wanted to learn to make embroidered jewelry? In this kit I provide all the weird bits and pieces you need to make four necklace pendants and one pin, along with full-size templates and instructions for finishing. This kit contains:
- One 6" x 44" (15cm x 112cm) piece of black 100% cotton quilting fabric (I used Kona cotton)
- 6-ply hand-dyed cotton Weeks Dye Works embroidery floss and sewing thread in 24" (61cm) lengths in brands, colors, and amounts in Color Key (page 5)
- Four antique brass pendant trays (40mm round, 40x50mm oval, 18x25mm oval, and 27mm round) and one pin tray (25mm round)
- Four antique brass chains with lobster clasps: Two 20" (51cm) chains with 2x3mm links, and two 22" (56cm) chains with 3x4mm links
- One 5½“ x 8½“ (14cm x 22cm) piece of 30pt kraft chipboard
- One 5½“ x 8½“ (14cm x 22cm) piece of 5mil transparency film/paper
- One 5½“ x 8½“ (14cm x 22cm) piece of white carbon tracing paper
- One 6¾" x 10½" (17cm x 27cm) piece of white chipboard (to make floss caddy)
You will need:
- 4" (10cm) embroidery hoop
- Extra-fine-tipped dark-colored permanent marker (to trace shapes onto transparency film)
- Extra-fine-tip white chalk pencil (or light colored pencil)
- #5 sharp needle(s)
- Embroidery scissors
- Heavy-paper scissors
- Fabric glue (I use Fabri-Tac)
- Sewing thread and hand-sewing needle
- Jewelry pliers for opening and closing jump ring
